Farmers Cooperative Compress is located in the middle of the largest cotton-growing region in the world.  It was created in 1948 by local cotton farmers who wished to provide for themselves and the cotton industry the finest warehousing services possible.  Farmers Compress merged with Plainview Cooperative Compress in 1997, and today it has 120 warehouses in Lubbock with bale storage capacity of 1,183,220, 44 in Plainview with capacity at 433,440, 22 in Levelland with a capacity of 200,510, 10 in Big Spring with a capacity of 87,000 and 7 in Stanton with a capacity of 73,080.  The Lubbock facility is divided into 5 separate Plants and Plainview into 2 Plants.  Each plant has it's own loading facility for increased efficiency.  FCC handles over 10% of the entire U.S. upland cotton production each year.  (Click on the "Maps" button to see where the Plants are located.)
